From Heartfelt Belief to Powerful Action

Zenebech, a devoted caregiver from the SOS Children’s Village Addis Ababa Programme Location, is known not only for her nurturing spirit but also for her unwavering belief in the power of community-driven change. When SOS Children’s Villages in Ethiopia introduced a bold shift toward strengthening local resource mobilization for long-term sustainability, Zenebech did not just support the idea, she became one of its most passionate ambassadors. 

She deeply believed that the future of children and youth in Ethiopia should not rely solely on external donors. Instead, she envisioned a future where local communities took ownership, where ordinary people with compassion could help create lasting change. 

For Zenebech, this was not just an idea but a dream long in the making. Now that the initiative had begun, she was determined to spread the word. Whether in daily conversations or quiet moments with family, she shared the mission. One such conversation was with her son-in-law, where she spoke with heartfelt conviction about the organization’s local fundraising efforts. “We can all do something,” she told him. “Even the smallest act can help build a better future for our children.” 

An Impactful Visit 

Zenebech’s message, rooted in sincerity and love, did not stop with her family. It found its way to Firehiwot, a woman already inclined toward service, but who had yet to fully discover how she could help. Inspired by Zenebech’s passion, Firehiwot decided to visit SOS Children’s Village Addis Ababa Programme Location to see what was spoken about so passionately for herself. 

What she found was not just an organization; it was a vibrant community, a deeply connected family. She met children filled with hope and caregivers who had dedicated their lives to raising them with love, patience, and care. It was a living testament to what is possible when people come together to uplift one another. 

Touched and inspired, Firehiwot made a decision that would soon touch many lives. She committed to sponsoring more than 100 children. Not out of obligation, but from a genuine desire to support a cause that had now touched her heart.
