SOS Children's Villages Ethiopia Celebrates 50 Years of Transforming Lives
SOS Children's Villages in Ethiopia, a leading organization dedicated to providing care and support to children who have lost parental care and are at risk of losing it, proudly announces its 50th anniversary. For half a century, SOS Children's Villages in Ethiopia has been a beacon of hope, providing loving homes, quality education, and empowering opportunities for children in need.
Since its establishment in 1974, SOS Children's Villages in Ethiopia has been at the forefront of transforming the lives of countless children, families, and communities who have faced adversities. Through its unique family-based care model, the organization has provided a nurturing environment where children can flourish, grow, and realize their full potential. The family and community development program has enabled many families in the communities to become sustainable and provide the necessary care for their children. Its humanitarian action program has supported millions of community members to pull through human-made and natural disasters. Working closely in different communities has also enabled different community systems and structures to be strengthened.

Over the past five decades, SOS Children's Villages in Ethiopia has achieved remarkable milestones, impacting the lives of thousands of children and their communities. The organization's commitment to holistic child development, education, healthcare, and vocational training has empowered young individuals to break the cycle of poverty, become self-reliant, and contribute positively to society.
In commemoration of this historic achievement, SOS Children's Villages in Ethiopia held a media briefing on May 9th, 2024, to highlight the organization's accomplishments, influence, and future aspirations. The media briefing was held in the presence of notable guests including Dr.Tifsehit Solomon, CEO of Strategic Planning, Policy and Research from the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, W/ro Zebider Bogale, CEO of Child rights and Protection from the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, Ato Fassikaw Molla, Deputy Director General of Authority for Civil Society Organizations, and Ato Eyob Bekele, President of SOS Youth Alumni Association, and several media outlets.

"This milestone reflects the collective effort and unwavering support of our staff, donors, partners, and the communities we serve. It is a testament to the resilience and strength of the children who have overcome challenges and emerged as confident young individuals."
